OneIT

A priority of the Office of OneIT is to create and perpetuate an environment at UNC Charlotte that encourages faculty, staff and students to engage with AI to elevate teaching, learning, research and operations—while upholding high standards of AI responsibility and integrity.

With the AI Steering Committee made up of faculty and staff members from across the University, OneIT guides the ethical adoption and use of AI, makes recommendations about shared practices and plans comprehensive training programs. In addition, they will explore ways to optimize the use of AI for personalized support, boosting faculty and staff productivity, and maximizing student engagement.

Focusing on information protection, system security and ethical decision making, OneIT provides the following for optimal AI integration with all academic and administrative AI-based endeavors:

The Office of OneIT works with vendors to provide campus-wide artificial intelligence software. That software includes: Gemini, Copilot, NotebookLM, Adobe (in labs and for faculty and staff), Caisy. This software is available to anyone with @charlotte.edu credentials. It is important to use this software because e data protection agreements are in place, and it can be used with data levels, 0, 1 and 2.

Departments can request specialized software using the IT Software and Related request process. Individuals and units should not use specialized software without prior approval.
